Dr Maciej Zachariasiewicz, LLM is a professor at Koźmiński University Law School in Warsaw and an of counsel at Popiołek, Adwokaci i Doradcy law firm in Katowice.
Dr Zachariasiewicz is an author of number of publications in both Polish and English. His research interests focus on cross-border transactions, international litigation and arbitration. He is an author of the first monograph in Polish dealing with the conflict of laws issues relating to the Anglo-American trusts. He recently published a book about the public policy exception in the conflict of laws.
Maciej’s legal practice focuses on arbitration, contract and commercial law. He advised parties in a number of different cases involving issues of European Union law. Between 2013-2017 he was a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration in Warsaw. He is listed as a recommended arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce. He acts as an arbitrator and counsel in arbitration proceedings.
Dr Zachariasiewicz is an alumni of the University of Silesia in Katowice (PHD 2009, Master of laws 2002) and the Central European University (LLM in International Business Law 2003) He was a visiting scholar at the Columbia Law School in New York (2013) as well as carried out research in various academic institutions in Europe (Paris, Hamburg, Vienna). In 2006 he was an intern at the Court of First Instance of the European Communities in Luxembourg.
